In the context of a wall-faience pattern imposed work, I developed a graphic research project based on my nostalgia for Provence. I have always felt and still feel something special about the Provence region, perhaps linked to my grandparents living there. This region in the south of France is an interesting mix of traditional French culture and early Mediterranean influences, from past ages, with time sometimes stretching like if slowing down.
The project was based on that feeling: a search for old, nostalgic patterns and graphic outcomes. I decided to put effort working on the painted graphic rendering in order to give it
an aged, handcrafted appearance, reminiscent of traditional techniques from the past.

NPROVENCE
During one week, we had to work on a wall-faience pattern. I developed a graphic research project based on my nostalgia for Provence. One of my grandmothers lived in Provence, and I have always felt and still feel something special when I go there. Provence is a region in the south of France; its specificity lies in its position between traditional French culture and early Mediterranean influences. The area is made up mainly of small villages, with an aging population, and everything feels old, as if time has slowed down.
This project is based on that sensation: a search for old, nostalgic patterns and graphic outcomes. I spent a great deal of time working on the painted graphic rendering in order to give it an aged, handcrafted appearance, reminiscent of traditional techniques from the past.
